La Stampa and Slow Food marvel at the Cantina del Pino 2002 Barbaresco as “A Great Wine in a Small Vintage”.

In the article they note, “to make a great wine in a year when the weather is favorable, it is to be expected, but to make a great wine when the conditions are problematic it requires an experienced hand. The 2002 vintage in the Piedmont required just such experience. Renato Vacca has given us a great wine in his 2002 Barbaresco.”

The article goes on to say: “The production was very low with a heavy green harvest in the late summer when the rainfall was low. Because of the attention paid in the vineyards over the summer, when a solid month of sun came in September sun, the grapes matured into what has become an excellent Barbaresco.”

The Cantina del Pino’s Barbaresco; “this wine is excellent now and has all of the structure of a wine that will age elegantly.”
